About the artist

The cultural landscape of German Expressionism, and the physical landscape of the Canadian prairies, shape Judy’s painting style. “I grew up in a remarkable prairie landscape, but I also grew up with a landscape I had never set foot on: the landscape my mother brought with her to Canada after WW11.

Judy is a Canadian acrylic artist, born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. Her early influences of pioneering and hard work and commitment are reflected in her subject matter. “My father loved the land, and so I view my subject matter through the values passed on to me. Every seed he planted, he planted with undaunted hope. That’s the hope I want you to feel when you look at my work.

My Manifesto: I believe in seeing the good. I have faith in the future. I believe we’re all originals.

“If I inspire you to be a little bit braver, a tad more curious, or a touch more hopeful, then I have succeeded.”
